Seeq is SaaS
Seeq was always intended to be a cloud-based platform. However, to most of the world in 2013, and especially industrial customers, the cloud was a vague and somewhat unsettling concept. So, Seeq launched as an on-premise software product. But we never lost sight of our founding vision to take advantage of the scale, capability, and security of cloud computing.
Today, the environment is vastly different. Cloud-first initiatives are common in industry, often lead by Digital Transformation Officers–a role that did not exist when Seeq was established. The dynamic nature of our digital world places high demands on both cybersecurity and resilience, leading cloud computing to become the go-to solution for providing security-at-scale and global reach.
Our customers now demand scale, global availability, monitoring, and reliability from Seeq. They also demand faster access to new features and more agile reaction to their continually evolving use cases.
Seeq is more than a tool. Seeq has become an enterprise SaaS platform that is designed to accelerate the business outcomes that can be achieved by empowering employees. While Seeq Workbench, Organizer and Data Lab remain the gold standard for time series analytics, we have increasingly become an integral part of the data infrastructure for our customers.
Seeq enables users to monitor, diagnose, and prevent asset and production performance issues, while working from and still staying connected to all the process and contextual data they need.
Seeq is not an island, we are part of a well-connected corporate strategy to maximize customer’s investments, knowledge, and data. We bring context to time series data, connecting sources of data that have never been connected before, often across vendors that are competitors. It’s common for our customers to connect a dozen data sources to Seeq, and some customers have connected more than a hundred, breaking down silos and enabling context and collaboration.
Critically, Seeq does not wholesale lift-and-shift your data to the cloud. We connect to your data in-place, avoiding disruptive, time-consuming, and costly migration projects. Seeq connects to your data whether it is stored in your facilities, in a centralized datacenter, or in the cloud. Seeq only accesses the specific elements of your data needed by your team for their specific use cases. Our intelligent cache provides outstanding performance and eliminates load on your data historians by up to 95% by avoiding costly repetitive queries. All data is encrypted in transit and at rest.
The Seeq platform allows you to access, cleanse, manipulate, and analyze that data using our open, fully documented, and accessible API that keeps getting better with every release. We have SDKs in Java, Typescript, Python, and SPy, an amazing Seeq Python library. Many of our customers depend on this open access and use it for business-critical operations, such as monitoring, today.
SECURITY
Seeq is secure. We have designed a security posture that employs in-depth defense, built on the best practices of our cloud provider partners, industry-leading stateful firewall services, and software robust supply-chain management. But don’t take just our word for it (we don’t), we utilize third party assessments, penetration tests, and audits to validate our efforts.
Seeq is certified as SOC2 Type 2 compliant, and we hold a Cloud Computing Compliance Controls Catalog (C5) certification.

FAQs
- “My IT team will want to know how you manage network security.”
Seeq doesn’t drill through your corporate defenses or ask you to open vulnerable ports to “reach into” your network. We instead make use of a small-footprint Remote Agent to connect to your on-premise data sources, and this agent authenticates with your data source locally and establishes an encrypted, secure outbound connections to Seeq via standard HTTPS protocols. Once established, requests for data are received over this link, fulfilled locally by the agent, and then encrypted and compressed for secure, efficient delivery to the Seeq environment. - “How do you secure access into Seeq?”
Our best practice for Seeq is to integrate with your corporate Single Sign-On provider. Seeq supports identity solutions ranging from Azure Entry to standards-based providers such as Ping Federated, OKTA, and others. If your provider supports Multi-Factor Authentication controls, then Seeq will inherently employ those as well. We can also limit Seeq access to only certain groups in your corporate directory, and if your data source provides for item-level security on your data sources, Seeq has support for that level of granularity as well. - “My company doesn’t want to store data in the cloud, at least not yet.”
Seeq is not a lift-and-shift solution. Instead, Seeq connects to existing data sources as they stand and respects them as the source of record for all data. When a user needs data as part of an analysis, Seeq will request only the specific data necessary to fulfill the request and bring that data into the server in a secured and encrypted manner to perform the analysis. The source data remains in its original source location.
MEETING THE CHALLENGE
