Andres Barbaro
VP of Engineering

Andres is a Chemical Engineer who loves to solve real-life large-scale problems through the power of programming. He helps teams create software systems that delight their users and bring joy to their developers.

Andres graduated from the University of Buenos Aires with a Bachelor's in Chemical Engineering. He then pursued his Master's degree in Chemical Engineering at the University of Oklahoma, where he focused on solving large-scale optimization problems for industrial capacity planning, energy optimization, and heat exchanger network design.

As a software engineer, he spent over 17 years in the energy industry, leading multiple engineering teams and developing an enterprise software suite that helps energy companies (utilities and marketers) bid, manage, and optimize their energy trading, generation, and transmission portfolios.

In 2019, Andres ventured into a new industry, driven by an interest in consumer applications and developing SaaS and mobile applications for social marketing. He led and scaled the engineering team at Tailwind, built four mobile apps, and evolved the system architecture to cloud-native microservices to support the growing customer base (over 1million user accounts).

Andres grew up in Buenos Aires, Argentina, and enjoyed the fast-paced, energetic cosmopolitan life. Living in the heartland of the USA, close to the University of Oklahoma for nearly 20 years, he's learned to enjoy suburban life with his wife Ana and his children Franco, Bianca, and Josefina.

He enjoys spending time with his family, reading classic literature books, watching soccer games (Messi and Argentina), running, and playing ping pong in his spare time. In his early youth, he used to be a competitive BMX racer and can still have a decent ride at the track. He also fences épée at the City of Thunder fencing club.
