Williams Companies - Early Identification of Meter Freezes, A Systematic Approach using Seeq Data Lab and Machine Learning

Oscar (Skeeter) Lewis, Asset Performance Consultant, Williams Companies | Rod Howard, Asset Performance Consultant, Williams Companies

Meter freezes are a common seasonal issue causing measurement inaccuracies in the gas gathering industry in cold climates, which are costly for the gatherer to replace for the customer. Williams developed a machine learning solution using Seeq Workbench and Data Lab to indicate when a freeze had occurred and provide an exception report to measurement analysts and operations. Learn how Williams’ approach to identifying meter freezes has evolved over the years to achieve early identification with financial benefits.

Upstream Condensate Production Optimization

Suradech Kongkiatpaiboon, Process Engineer, Chevron Thailand

Learn how Chevron’s Thailand business is digitally transforming and getting the most out of their data using digital tools. This session will focus on how Seeq creates business value through user customization, adaptability, operationalizing SMEs expertise workflows and ability to focus on business problems. Use cases on anomaly detection, root cause analysis, condensate production optimization, quality modeling and cross site optimization will be showcased.

Seeqing Abnormal Pipeline Shutdowns

Kyle Miller, Automation Manager, Marathon Oil

At Marathon Pipe Line (MPL), we used Seeq to develop a custom line shutdown condition loaded with calculations to describe the nature of the event (with pressure and temperature variables) that applies to every segment of interest in our operating areas. It replaced an older tool that was cumbersome to use and limited in scope, as well as the practice of combing through old shift reports and reading descriptions of events. On-call specialists have been trained to use and interpret this tool, as well as apply it to new segments when necessary.

Abdullah Algady, Lead Operations Producing Advisor, Aramco

Over the past five years, gas compressor trips at Saudi Aramco have often been caused by gradual changes in temperature or vibration, even below alarm thresholds; suggesting potential equipment issues. Saudi has used Seeq to monitor and prevent these trips and built a tool within to analyze temperature and vibration data from various compressor parts and sets dynamic thresholds based on historical trends. By proactively identifying abnormal behavior, operations and maintenance teams can address problems before they lead to shutdowns.
