CMC - Scrap to Sustainability: Leveraging Seeq’s Reporting for Enhanced Recycling Efficiency

Mikayla McAweeney, Manufacturing Excellence Process Engineer, CMC

CMC enhances the metal recycling process at our scrap yards by using wire choppers to process wires and cables that encase nonferrous metals like copper and aluminum. Although these metals cannot be used in CMC’s steel production, CMC remains committed to building a more sustainable world. The wire chopper removes and chops the nonferrous metal rods into smaller, manageable sizes, which are then sorted by metal type and sold for repurposing. Seeq’s trending capabilities allow CMC to monitor wire chopper currents (amps), identify excessive feeding periods, and detect wear on the chopper blades. Combining these trends and analysis with Seeq’s powerful interactive reporting tool provides CMC with easily accessible data and valuable insights, improving recycling and machine maintenance at CMC Recycling Lexington.

Western Midstream - SWD Injection: Robust Reporting Solutions with Seeq

Albert Swalha, Staff OSI PI Engineer, Western Midstream

Western Midstream significantly streamlined regulatory reporting of Saltwater Disposal (SWD) wells by implementing a robust analytics solution using Seeq. Previously, regulatory reporting involved extensive manual Excel workbook preparations, which were labor-intensive and error-prone, consuming nearly 24 hours monthly. Using Seeq’s combined applications—Workbench, Data Lab, and Organizer—they automated data cleansing, analysis, and report generation, reducing monthly effort to only 1-2 hours. This scalable solution improves data accuracy, proactively highlights operational exceptions, and significantly reduces administrative burden, enabling analysts to focus on more strategic tasks.
