Steve started his professional career as a developer at a consulting firm located in Chicago that made customizations to Microsoft Dynamics CRM. After spending a couple of years honing his C# skills and learning the ins and outs of Dynamics CRM, Steve convinced the company to allow him to be one of the first two developers to begin creating mobile applications for a new mobile-focused side of the company. After some time creating mobile apps, Steve followed a colleague to work at Groupon where he worked on the A/B testing and user tracking tools team for most of his time at the company. Steve also had the opportunity to work on a green field user rewards system called Groupon Points that, due to business reasons, was never fully rolled out.

It was at Groupon that Steve convinced his team to allow him to work remotely before moving from Chicago to North Dakota to live near his girlfriend. They were married within a year. After one North Dakota winter, Steve and his wife decided to move to Reno to be near family and mountains (but now only one of those is left). In Reno, Steve accepted another position at a social media advertising startup called Social Native. During his time at Social Native, Steve worked on some interesting projects including frontend redesigns and data processing pipelines. Through a series of interesting events, Steve was gradually promoted to Director of Engineering of the small engineering team and spent the better part of a year managing a team of about 5 engineers. From Social Native, Steve is stepping into the role of Principal Software Engineer at Seeq.

During their free time, Steve and his wife go mountain biking as much as possible, travel, plan their move to the Idaho panhandle, and try to get his wife through nursing school.
