Spencer likes tackling problems that require outside-the-box solutions.
Spencer did not graduate with a math/CS double major from Truman State University in Kirksville, Missouri. Instead, he and his wife dropped out, moved to sunny Los Angeles, and began a career working for early-stage startups. An early CTO introduced him to Github, which was probably a mistake.
After a brief stint working on accessibility at Google, Spencer joined Factual where he built a career track for data scientists and formed an R&D division to handle the rapid inflow of new clients. He created and maintained a number of projects, including Factual's tech interviewing pipeline, engineering mentorship, realtime polygon geometry libraries, and tools for petabyte-scale data analysis.
Spencer lives with his awesome wife and three kids in the Sandia foothills just outside Albuquerque, New Mexico. When he isn't working, he's probably building stuff in the shop and teaching the kids lines from Monty Python and the Holy Grail.
