Ben loves to build software that makes people more efficient at work.
Ben has been developing web-based solutions since the very early days of the web. He worked at NCSA writing software to help manage the flood of support email, back when the browser wars were between Mosaic and Netscape.
He had a long tenure with Merrill Corporation, leading the technical design of several products, including a collaborative repository for mergers and acquisitions, HIPAA-compliant digital print, and an authoring workflow for SEC filings. Throughout, he was pragmatic about leveraging current technology patterns to balance team efficiency and long-term maintainability.
He is an advocate for distributed teams, enabling individuals to have both extended quantities of focused creation sessions and time with their other life passions.
Ben has a BA in Physics from St. Olaf College, and did graduate work in computer science at the University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign. He lives in northern Minnesota with his wife and two sons. Outside family and work, he can be found playing his horn with the local symphony orchestra, walking the dogs, or working on outdoor projects.
